Capture the weekly demographic breakdown of registrants by county. You can pick any year and week to go back and get archived data if you ever need to.   https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegStat/  

Every Saturday, the NCSBE updates and archives the voter data. There is a file for each county and also a composite statewide file for both data sets.  The legend that associates each file number with a particular county is found in the layout file at the top of the file listing.  https://dl.ncsbe.gov/index.html?prefix=data/
